Neuer Raum, neues Internet und auch das TV geht 😉
Jetzt fehlen uns nur noch die nächsten (hoffentlich guten) Virenergebnisse, die lassen jedoch nach den ausgiebigen Feiertagen auf sich warten. Wir sind weiterhin um unsere Geduld angehalten und nach dem tatsächlichen Bettenengpass wieder in ein Einzelzimmer gesteckt worden….macht ja auch Sinn uns inmitten des ganzen Isolationszirkus nicht in ein 6 Bett Zimmer zu stecken…. Nun warten wir geduldig auf die nächsten Werte und hoffen das diese sich in die richtige Richtung bewegen. Bis zum Tag +100 ist alles immer noch möglich und im Rahmen in Bezug auf instabile Blutwerte, danach würde man so langsam daran denken ggfs Stammzellen nachzugeben, was wiederum die Gefahr einer erneuten GvhD erhöht…..Na da haben wir ja noch 30 Tage 😉
Da sich Luka’s Blutwerte so langsam (zwar auf sehr niedrigem Niveau) etwas einpendeln setzen wir nach wie vor auf die Virenbehandlung die halt leider sehr…(und zwar wirklich sehr…) lange dauern kann. Es wird schwierig Luka bei Laune zu halten, von uns wollen wir mal gar nicht reden….aber heute hat er sich zunächst mit Rechenspielen unter zuhilfenahme der Finger bei Laune gehalten. Dann gab es Waffel-Rechenspiele, dann ist Mika zum FKK-Kino mit ins KH gekommen und zuguterletzt haben wir das Zimmer unter tatkräftigem Einsatz von Karsten und Opa noch in Beschlag genommen…Nun ist es mitten in der Nacht, ich bin ziemlich müde (die letzte Nacht war ‚etwas‘ unruhig…..alle Kinder bekommen Chemo und haben Nebenwirkungen……und das in einem Zimmer mit Papiervorhängen abgetrennt….) aber wieder frohen Mutes !!!

New room, new internet and even TV works 😉
Now we are just missing the last (hopefully encouraging) viruscounts, that are lagging a bit behind after all the recent bank holidays. We are still meant to be patient and after the recent bedshortage we got in a separate room again today… makes somehow sense not to put us into a 6 bed room after all the fuss about isolation and infection risk…!?! Now we wait quite patient on the next virus results and hope that they are moving into the right direction. Up to day +100 everything is considered as ’normal‘ with regard to fragile bloodcounts whereas later on you would rather think about giving some more stemcells (which increases the risk of GvhD again…)….so we still have another 30 days left 😉
Since Luka’s bloodcounts seem to stabilise a bit (even though on a low level) we stil believe strongly in the virustreatment which unfortunately can take a long (and they really mean long) long time. It is getting hard to keep Luka motivated, we do not even think about us ;).
But today he started with math games (using all of his fingers). Later on they counted waffles (and ate them…), them Mika came along for a ’naked‘ movie evening in hospital and on top Karsten and grandpa helped to ‚redecorate‘ our new room. Now it is midnight already, I am really tired (after a long last night with only chemo kids in the room and all kind of side effects throughout the night…just divided by some paper curtains….)…but we are very positive again !
Erfreulich, dass sich die Zimmersituation wieder entspannt hat. So könnt ihr hoffentlich ein bisschen die Vorfreude auf die Kommunion geniessen 😉 Mikas Outfit ist wirklich sehr cool!
Wir drücken die Daumen für gute Ergebnisse und hoffen, dass es jetzt in großen Schritten weiter der Krankenhausentlassung entgegen geht…

You can never have too many waffles, Luka! Maybe the next task will be counting in tens (with chocloates this time?).
Well, what is there to say that’s going to make a difference? You know that we all care very much and just want this journey to reach its ultimate happy conclusion; I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that we’d love to remove the rocky path and have Luka on the home stretch tomorrow . . . maybe we all need to give you a massive morale boost by agreeing that at 9 o’clock tonight (BST) we all do whatever we believe will help: praying, talking to our Guatemalan worry dolls, singing at the top of our voices, having an extra glass of wine (sounds good), dancing naked round the garden (that’s my speciality, of course) or just willing Luka to return to full heath. Let’s do it for Luka!

Eigentlich wirklich Quatsch überhaupt 6-Bett-Zimmer in so einer Situation zu machen!!!
Die Lage hat sich nun ja doch wieder entspannt und Ihr habt wenigstens im KH wieder Euren „gewohnten Freiraum“. Man ist ja schon genug eingeengt!
Nun hoffen wir doch wirklich, dass alles bald absehbar ist!!!

Liebe Steffi, du bist wirklich ein Allrounder: für Luka voll dasein, für den Rest der Family, Kommunionsklamotten einkaufen und wahrscheinlich noch so einiges andere für dieses Fest managen……
Behalte deine Ausdauer und lass den Kopf oben, du bist spitze!!!!
Auch Luka zeigt wirklich eine Eselsgeduld! Hut ab!

Ha ha ha – fame at last! Well I’m not sure you’re right about my comments being read around the globe, Steffie, and I certainly don’t need a party but I DO agree that you and I should have a few glasses of wine together: you know where I live and you’re always welcome. Meanwhile, I hope you both have a much more restful night and that Luka is brighter in the morning.
Now then, I really came to the website to remind everybody about tonight’s Willing Luka Well Again Campaign [WiLWAC? – sounds good]. In 40 minutes from now everyone should „do their thing“ whether it’s lighting a candle, popping a champagne bottle, bouncing on the trampoline, singing a song, running up and down the stairs five times of just sitting quietly and sending up a prayer. Let’s all do it for Luka. Please phone and email your friends to remind them: 9 o’clock tonight is Luka Time.
Dear Isabel, at least in Dubai we love to read your comments. They are great ! Enjoy the wine together with Steffie you both deserve it. I had a nightshift to bake Laugenstangen (kind of bretzels, the Strohs know them) and we are always reminded of Franzi when she helped us. So our thoughts were with Luka and the bunch of Strohs. Hopefully it will help Luka to recover very soon. Have a nice weekend, ours is over now. Cheers Silke

habe lange nichts mehr von mir hören lassen, weil der Hauke wieder ins KH gekommen ist, er hat den CMV Virus bekommen und der musste unbedingt behandelt werden mit zweimal Tropf am Tag :-(, 3 Wochen lang !
Im Augenblick hat er den Virus erneut, diesmal wird das mit Tabletten behandelt, weil er nicht wieder ins Krankenhaus gehen wollte … hoffentlich klappt das !
Aber sonst ist er gut drauf und wir machen viele Spaziergänge, hier mal ein Bild davon :
