Die heutigen Gespräche mit den Chefärzten haben ergeben: nur in ca. 3% aller Stammzelltransplantationen wird ein ‚top up‘ wie Luka ihn jetzt bekommt durchgeführt; voraussichtlich noch 2-4 Wochen bis die neuen Stammzellen eintreffen; in den Tagen vor der geplanten Stammzellgabe wieder Medikamente zur Immunsuppression; Stammzellgabe, d.h. wir fangen im Prinzip wieder bei Tag ‚Null‘ an; dann nochmal ca. 2-4 Wochen bis die Stammzellen ‚anwachsen‘, d.h. bis die Blutwerte dann hoffentlich wirklich steigen; Wiederauftreten von Gvhd (graft-versus-host-disease, d.h mögliche Abstossungsreaktionen des Körpers)? Sorry, aber heute war einfach nicht wirklich ein guter Tag…
Today’s visit from the transplant doctor’s had the following information: only in about 3% of stem cell transplants a ‚top up‘ as Luka will be given is needed; it’ll probably take another 2-4 weeks before the new stem cells will arrive; in the days before the stem cells are given he will get once more medication to suppress his immune system; stem cell transplant, i.e. we basically start counting from ‚zero‘ again; then another 2-4 weeks for the stem cells to start working, i.e. until the blood counts hopefully will really start to rise; reappearance of gvhd (graft-versus-host-disease, i.e. the body potentially showing some rejection to the new stem cells)? Sorry, but today just simply wasn’t really a good day…

es ist schon unfair, dass immer Ihr dem nicht erwarteten Pfad folgen muesst. Aber ich bin fest davon ueberzeugt, dass Ihr das Ziel findet wenn auch auf Umwegen. Wie schon so oft erwaehnt seid Ihr eine so tolle und vor allem starke Familie dass wir fest an Euch glauben.
Wir schliessen Euch weiterhin in unsere Gebete mit ein und wuenschen Euch ganz viel Kraft, Energie, Ausdauer und vor allem bald bessere Blutwerte.

Bitte haltet weiterhin so gut durch und vor allem zusammen! Ihr macht das wirklich vorbildlich!
Ich kann einfach nicht mehr sagen, als: wir denken wirklich ganz viel an Euch, schließen Euch täglich in unsere Gebete mit ein und wünschen Euch nun nur noch, dass es jetzt endlich klappt und die „Bücher im Regal stehen bleiben und nicht mehr umfallen!“.
Es ist schön, dass Luka sich die Laune nicht vermiesen lässt und trotz allem immer wieder zu Späßen aufgelegt ist!
Wir werden weiterhin Euren Blog verfolgen und haben ein wachsames Auge auf Euch!
Macht das Beste daraus und lasst Euch jetzt bloß nicht unterkriegen!!!!

What can I say, Steffie?
It’s another long road ahead and you will cope by taking just one day at a time, a small step forward and sometimes one backwards. I could give you plenty of platitudes and hollow, reassuring words but I don’t think that would really help you.
There is little we can do for you except listen, support, comfort, pray and hope. We will willingly do all of those.
Try to relax over the next few weeks and recharge your batteries in readiness for the next „round“. Luka will eventually be triumphant!

das ist wirklich nicht fair, Ihr habt schon soviel durchgemacht und jetzt steht Ihr wieder vor solch einem Berg……..
Auch bei uns vergeht kein Tag, an dem wir nicht in Gedanken bei Euch sind und ich bewundere Euch (aber vor allem Steffie) wirklich sehr, wie Ihr das gemeinsam durchsteht und immer wieder (mehr oder weniger) optimistisch in die Zukunft schaut. Klar habt Ihr keine Alternative aber ich glaube vielen anderen wäre die Kraft schon ausgegangen…..Jetzt heisst es (hoffentlich) ein letztes Mal alle Kräfte mobilisieren und den ganzen langen, blöden Weg noch mal beschreiten. Aber ich bin mir ganz sicher, dass Ihr es schafft und dass es dann endlich auch für Euch mal konstant aufwärts geht!!!!!!!!!!! Ganz, ganz liebe Grüße an alle un d eine Extraportion Kraft dazu……:-)

Haven’t written in ages, but it hasn’t stopped me from praying for you all, expecially our boy Luka. As I age I get slower, so hardly get to the computer these days (some excuse, right?) Anyway as I said, hasn’t stopped me from the prayers that I send constantly.
We will back to York Ave a.m. of the 19th.
